Think Like a Historian: Working with Primary Source Evidence

Artifacts

Artifacts are physical traces of the past. Analyzing objects left behind can give us a more complete historical picture. Sometimes we only have a part of an artifact, and have to try to imagine what is missing. However, it is important not to rely on a single source when interpreting historical events. Historians need to ask critical questions about primary source evidence in order to discover a more comprehensive understanding of the past.
