Votive images

These votive images are offered by women at local temples, at tree shrines and
at home. The pinched and incised style is one of the startling examples of
continuity in Indian art. Figurines of remarkably similar style are found
throughout Indian history and in Indus Valley sites dating from 5,000 years ago.
