Gatineau, Quebec, March 6, 2025 — The Canadian Museum of History and the Canadian War Museum are pleased to announce that Manmeet Bhatia has been appointed to the Board of Trustees for a term of four years. The Honourable Pascale St-Onge, Minister of Canadian Heritage, made the announcement earlier today.

Mr. Bhatia, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, is the President and CEO of Fiduciary Trust Company Canada, a nationally regulated trust company and private wealth firm. With nearly 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, he has held significant executive roles, including as Senior Vice-President at Aviso Wealth and Chief Investment Officer for Qtrade Financial Group. He holds several professional designations, including Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), and Certified Financial Planner (CFP), as well as a CFA Certificate in ESG Investing.

“We are delighted to welcome Manmeet Bhatia to the Board,” said Carole Beaulieu, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “His vast experience in financial leadership and community engagement will be an asset to the Museums’ strategic oversight. We look forward to the impactful work we will do together in the years ahead.”

A graduate of the I.H. Asper School of Business, Mr. Bhatia brings a deep passion for leadership and strategic development. He has served on various boards, including those of Decoda Literacy Solutions, Dogs of the Ganges Society, and OceanRock Investments, among others.

Mr. Bhatia’s appointment follows the conclusion of Mr. Laurier Turgeon’s term after more than six years of dedicated service to the Canadian Museum of History and the Canadian War Museum. Throughout his tenure, Mr. Turgeon made invaluable contributions, providing guidance and leadership to various Board committees, including in his role as Vice-Chair of the Governance and Human Resources Committee, and as a member of the Canadian War Museum Advisory Group. We extend our deepest gratitude to Mr. Turgeon for his exceptional service and commitment to Canada’s national museums of human and military history.

The Canadian Museum of History and the Canadian War Museum are proud to continue advancing their shared mandate of preserving and showcasing Canada’s history for all Canadians.

The Canadian Museum of History operates the Canadian Museum of History, the Canadian War Museum, and the Virtual Museum of New France. Together, these Museums function as centres for research and public information on the history of Canada.
