Your winter photos could have a snowball effect at the Canadian Museum of Civilization!
January 28, 2013PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
For immediate release
Gatineau, Quebec, January 28, 2013 — Your family snapshots could be displayed in Snow, an upcoming exhibition at the Canadian Museum of Civilization. Opening in December 2013, the exhibition will look at Canadians’ relationship with snow. And, your photos could have a snowball effect!
The Museum is looking for photos and stories that illustrate typical winter experiences.
We’re interested in great shots of men, women and children enjoying winter activities such as tobogganing, skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing or snowmobiling. Or maybe you have a photo of your family revelling in the first snowfall of the season, walking in a beautiful landscape blanketed in snow, or struggling against a blinding blizzard. We’re interested in scenes of people catching snowflakes, building snowmen and performing the back-breaking chore of shovelling, and even your pets playing in the snow.
The Museum of Civilization would love to see your best snow snapshots—both old and new—and hear the stories behind them. We’ll include many in the upcoming exhibition, Snow, and in its catalogue. We will ask your permission to preserve your photos and stories in our national collection.
Please note that photos of skating or any other activities or sports on ice will not be included in the exhibition.
To send your photos, please visit https://www.historymuseum.ca/snow/photo.
