Two Executive Appointments at the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation

Gatineau, Quebec, December 19, 2007 – Dr. Victor Rabinovitch, President and CEO of the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation, today announced two executive appointments to the Corporation.

David Loye takes on the role of Chief Operating Officer on a permanent basis, having acted in the position since June 2007. Mark O’Neill, Vice-President of Public Affairs for the Corporation and acting director of the Canadian War Museum, will become Director-General, Canadian War Museum and Vice-President for the Corporation.

“I am very pleased to announce these appointments today and to welcome these two dedicated staff members to their new roles on a permanent basis,” said Dr. Rabinovitch. “Their combined experience, totaling over two decades at the Museum alone, will help ensure both continuity and succession to a new generation of leadership of the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation.”

David Loye, a Certified General Accountant (CGA), joined the Museum of Civilization in 1990. During his time with the Museum, he occupied the position of Chief, Financial Planning, followed by an appointment as the Corporation’s first Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Loye occupied the CFO position until June of 2007, when he was appointed as the Museum’s Chief Operating Officer on an interim basis. Prior to joining the Museum, he held various financial management positions within the Government of Canada.

Mark O’Neill joined the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation in 2001, after serving as Director of Cultural Property for the Department of Canadian Heritage and as Secretary of the Canadian Cultural Property Export Review Board. After joining the federal public service in 1986, Mr. O’Neill worked for the Departments of the Secretary of State of Canada, Multiculturalism and Citizenship, Justice Canada and Canadian Heritage, working in the areas of multiculturalism, publishing, museums and heritage institutions.

“The announcement of these two appointments speaks to the professional quality of the Corporation’s staff,” said Fredrik S. Eaton, Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Corporation. “These highly-qualified individuals come from within the ranks of the Museum and their appointment highlights how talented our people are.”

Both appointments are effective immediately.
