MEDIA RELEASE

For immediate release

Gatineau, Quebec, November 15, 2012 — Representatives of the Canadian Museum of Civilization will be in Fredericton, New Brunswick on November 23 to invite the public to participate in the creation of the new Canadian Museum of History.

The new exhibition gallery, which will be inaugurated in 2017, will present the national history of Canada and its people. The Museum is hitting the road to ask Canadians across the country what they would like to see in this new exhibition.

And now, people in the Fredericton area will be able to give their opinions on the personalities, events and milestones that tell the Canadian story, and choose the objects that they would include in the new Canadian Museum of History.

The public is invited to attend a presentation on Friday, November 23, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Fredericton Lord Beaverbrook Hotel, in Fredericton.

We will kick off the evening with a dynamic panel discussion —My History Museum: A to-Zed —by asking prominent Canadians what they would put in a Canadian history museum of their making.

This will be followed by a roundtable discussion where we will ask you how you would like to engage with your national history museum. How can the museum meet your needs and interests, from here in Fredericton?

For those who cannot attend the evening event, an interactive station will be set up at The Crowne Plaza Fredericton Lord Beaverbrook Hotel on Friday, November 23 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
