Gatineau, Quebec, April 2, 2013 — Everyone’s favourite transforming tater character MR. POTATO HEAD comes to the Canadian Children’s Museum of the Canadian Museum of Civilization this summer in his self-titled exhibit The Adventures of MR. POTATO HEAD. Aimed at small fries aged 3 to 8, this interactive exhibit encourages everyone to chip-in and have fun.

A master of disguise, international toy icon MR. POTATO HEAD will assume different roles as he leads visitors in a hands-on adventure through four thematic zones. Venture below the waves in the oceanography zone to discover the undersea world of Jacques Coustato. Dig into the archaeology zone to unearth the secrets of King Tato’s lost empire. Join Commander Potato Head in the space exploration zone to search for life on planet Neptato. Finally, trek through the rain-forest zone on a spud safari to identify the exotic animals hiding in the foliage.

Chock-full of opportunities for imaginative play and problem-solving, this exhibit is not just entertaining, it’s educational too.

The Adventures of MR. POTATO HEAD runs June 8, 2013 to January 5, 2014.

The Adventures of MR. POTATO HEAD exhibit was created by the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum in collaboration with Hasbro, Inc. and was sponsored by the Northwestern Mutual Foundation.

The Canadian Children’s Museum, one of the Canadian Museum of Civilization’s most popular attractions, provides a creative space for children and families to learn about the world and broaden their cultural experience. Passports in hand, visitors discover one incredible destination after another. Whether on a visit to homes in the International Village, a trek to a desert pyramid, a jaunt to the Port of Entry to help unload a cargo ship, or a stroll through the bustling Market Bazaar, visitors encounter endless ways to learn about the world and one another.

About the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum
The Betty Brinn Children’s Museum is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational resources that promote the healthy development of children in their formative years – from birth to age 10. The Museum’s mission is supported by the development of age-appropriate, hands-on exhibits and programs for children, and adult education programs that focus on early childhood brain development, learning styles, parenting skills and how the Museum environment can be used to promote a young child’s cognitive, emotional, social and physical growth. The Museum has benefited almost 2 million children and adults since opening in 1995.

About the Northwestern Mutual Foundation
The Northwestern Mutual Foundation has honored its mission — inspiring human potential through lifelong learning and community commitment — by granting support in three focus areas: Education, Health and Human Services, and Arts and Culture. The Foundation gives more money to support and develop the community than any other corporation in the state of Wisconsin, and has been a supporter of the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum since the museum opened in 1995.
