Reopening of the Canadian Museum of History as of June 2

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Gatineau, Quebec, May 13, 2021 — The Canadian Museum of History is pleased to welcome visitors back as of 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 2, when it reopens to the public. The Museum will be open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and until 7 p.m. on Thursdays. We look forward to welcoming you back!

The spectacular special exhibition, Queens of Egypt, originally scheduled for May 19, will also premiere on June 2. Visitors will be able to admire more than 300 iconic objects, including monumental statues, sarcophagi and jewellery, associated with legendary queens such as Nefertari, Nefertiti and Hatshepsut.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy the majestic Grand Hall; the Canadian History Hall — the Museum’s emblematic exhibition, which is the largest and most comprehensive exhibition on the history of this country ever developed; the Canadian Stamp Collection, which highlights every stamp issued in Canada; and the First Peoples Hall, which celebrates the history and diversity of the Indigenous peoples of Canada.

Due to its highly interactive experience, the Canadian Children’s Museum remains temporarily closed. The Panorama Café, Bistro Boréal and Second Cup are also currently closed. Vending machines featuring snacks and cold beverages are available. To ensure a safe and memorable experience for all, a number of safety measures are in place.

Our sister institution, the Canadian War Museum, remains closed until further notice due to COVID-19 restrictions.
