Canadian Museum of History’s Statement on Appointment of new Director and CEO of National Gallery of Canada

Gatineau, Quebec, February 13, 2019 — The Canadian Museum of History issued the following statement following an announcement by the Minister of Canadian Heritage, the Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, of the appointment of Dr. Sasha Suda as the new Director and CEO of the National Gallery of Canada:

“As head of Canada’s national museums of human and military history, both with significant collections of art, I look forward to working with Dr. Suda as she begins her mandate as Director and CEO of the National Gallery of Canada,” said Mark O’Neill, President and CEO of the Canadian Museum of History and the Canadian War Museum.

“I am delighted to learn of the appointment of Dr. Sasha Suda as Director and CEO of the National Gallery of Canada,” said Dr. James Fleck, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Canadian Museum of History. “I had the pleasure of working with Sasha during her time at the Art Gallery of Ontario, and I know that her passion for, and extensive knowledge of art will serve Canada well as she takes on this new role.”

The Canadian Museum of History operates the Canadian Museum of History, the Canadian War Museum and the Virtual Museum of New France. Together, these Museums function as centres for research and public information on the history of Canada. Their principal role is to enhance Canadians’ knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the events, experiences, people and objects that have shaped Canada’s history and identity.
