Streets closed to traffic around two Museums for Army Run

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Gatineau, Quebec, September 18, 2014 — Visitors planning to go to the Canadian Museum of History or the Canadian War Museum on Sunday, September 21 should allow extra travelling time as many streets will be closed around the two Museums between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. due to the Canada Army Run Half Marathon.

Visitors to the Canadian Museum of History: Laurier Street will be closed from Hôtel de Ville Street to Boulevard des Allumettières from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Alexandra Bridge will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (both directions) and Chaudières Bridge will be closed from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Boulevard Maisonneuve will remain open at all times for access from the Macdonald Cartier Bridge and Québec highways.

Police officers will be stationed at the Laurier/Papineau and Laurier/Elisabeth Bruyere intersections to guide car and pedestrian traffic across the marathon course. Underground parking at the Museum will remain open, but access to the garage may be delayed between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. due to heavy runner traffic.

Visitors to the Canadian War Museum: Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway between Vimy Place and Island Park Drive will be closed from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. Booth Street will also be closed from the Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway to the Chaudières Bridge (Quebec side) from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Canadian War Museum parking will not be accessible from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. After 10:30 a.m., access will be controlled by the Ottawa Police as the runners pass.

Regular hours of operation apply to both the Museum of History and the War Museum.
