For immediate release
Gatineau, Quebec, February 24, 2014 —This summer, challenge your child’s imagination with a week of fun and learning, in a bilingual environment, at the Canadian Museum of History.
Build Your Own Exhibit!, is a day camp that lets children from 6 to 10 years old discover what goes on in a museum. They will interact with Museum experts and enjoy behind-the-scenes access to specialized areas, where they will get a glimpse into the various types of work involved in string and exhibiting a collection.
They will take part in fun-filled activities as part of a team to gain the knowledge and tools to build, restore and preserve objects. In addition, they will put together and host their very own mini-exhibition, showcasing objects they have “curated” themselves. Families will be able to visit and admire these mini-exhibitions on the last day of camp.
This camp offers a full week of supervised workshops, activities, and indoor and outdoor games. Children will also enjoy an IMAX film and get a backstage pass to learn how an IMAX projector works.
The Museum’s summer camps run from July 7 to 11, July 14 to 18, July 21 to 25, August 11 to 15, and August 18 to 22.
Registration begins today and ends when all summer camp sessions are full. The cost is $250 per week per child, or $225 per week per child for Museum members. The camps run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday trough to Friday. Pre-camp and post-camp are available from 8 to 9 a.m. and from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at an additional cost.
