Eight classic IMAX films. Eight weeks of summer. The IMAX Film Festival is back at the Museum of Civilization’s IMAX® Theatre!

June 25, 2013

Gatineau, Quebec, June 25, 2013 — Life on Earth in all its diversity and colour will be on display this summer at North America’s unique IMAX® Theatre at the Canadian Museum of Civilization.

The IMAX Summer Film Festival will screen the most thrilling and captivating IMAX films ever produced. From July 1 to August 31, films such as Born to Be Wild and Dolphins will be presented on the huge IMAX Dome. And films such as the magical Flight of the Butterflies 3D will be shown on the immense flat screen — the largest in the Ottawa-Gatineau region.

On July 1, our Canada Day screenings will feature the very best in Canadian content, with Rocky Mountain Express and Flight of the Butterflies 3D. These captivating films highlight human endurance and the power of imagination, whether it involves building a country or pushing the limits of scientific expression.

“In many ways, the IMAX Summer Film Festival is a celebration of the medium of large-format film. The quality of the huge image is so impressive, and the stories are so inspiring and compelling, that we wanted to bring all of the great IMAX films together this summer to share the very best of IMAX with our visitors from across the region, across Canada, and around the world,” says IMAX Theatre manager, David Henderson. “The Festival also allows us to showcase our unique theatre, which has both a Dome and a 75-foot-wide flat screen. There is no other IMAX theatre in North America like it.”

The Festival’s eight films are Born to be Wild, Dolphins, Everest, Journey of Man (Cirque du Soleil), Rocky Mountain Express, Titans of the Ice Age 3D, Last Reef 3D and Flight of the Butterflies 3D.
