B.C. business leader Robert C. Wilband appointed to Board of Trustees, Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation

 Gatineau, Quebec, June 13, 2013 — The Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation is pleased to welcome Robert C. Wilband of Vancouver, B.C., to its Board of Trustees. Mr. Wilband is a business leader and board director with over 40 years of experience in Canada and internationally, most notably in the technology sector.

He retired as President and Chief Executive Officer of Prologic Corporation, Richmond, B.C., in 1999. At the time of his retirement, the provider of banking software was a global leader in its field, with 350 corporate customers in 31 countries. Mr. Wilband has remained active in the technology sector as an investor and mentor.

“Mr. Wilband brings to the Board extensive experience in corporate governance, finance, marketing and business strategy development,” said LGen (ret’d) Bill Leach, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation. “With his skills and knowledge, Mr. Wilband is certain to make a very valuable contribution to the Board and the Corporation.”

Mr. Wilband has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and a Diploma in International Marketing. He is also a Certified General Accountant (CGA). He is the recipient of several business awards, including the Canada Export Award and the CIBC National Job Creation Award. Mr. Wilband is also a lifetime member of the President’s Club at Simon Fraser University, where he has served as an Executive in Residence and Adjunct Professor.

The Corporation’s trustees are selected from across Canada and appointed by order in council.

The Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation operates the Canadian Museum of Civilization, the Canadian War Museum and the Virtual Museum of New France. As part of their mandate, the Museums function as centres for research and public information on the social, military and human history of the country. Their principal role is to preserve and promote the heritage of Canada for present and future generations, thereby contributing to the enhancement of Canadian identity.
