First Annual Festive Trees Decorating Challenge

Gatineau, Quebec, November 30, 2010 — Just in time for the holidays, the Canadian Museum of Civilization is featuring its first-ever Festive Trees Decorating Challenge, with a stunning display of 20 trees imaginatively decorated by local organizations.

Twenty organizations were selected to decorate a 2.5-metre tree in a way that expressed their identity, as well as the way in which they want to be viewed by the world. The 20 groups include a wide range of local interests, representing arts, sports, health and cultural groups.

Visitors to the Museum are invited to vote for their favourite tree. The winner of the Festive Trees Decorating Challenge will be invited back next year to decorate an even larger tree.

All 20 holiday trees will be displayed along the Special Exhibitions Corridor at the Canadian Museum of Civilization from November 30, 2010 to January 9, 2011, when the winner of the First Annual Festive Trees Decorating Challenge will be announced.

The first-ever Festive Trees Decorating Challenge features a stunning display of 20 lavishly decorated trees, created by local community organizations. Groups were given a tree and electrical supply, but the rest was up to them. Be sure to visit all 20 trees, and vote for your favourite! The winner will be announced on January 9, 2011.
