For Love, Children, Youth: Valentine’s Day Ball at the Canadian Museum of Civilization

Gatineau, Quebec, January 23, 2008 — On the evening of Thursday, February 14, 2008, the Canadian Museum of Civilization will hold a fundraising event to warm hearts and spirits. The Valentine’s Day Ball will support programs for children and youth at the Canadian Museum of Civilization and the Canadian War Museum.

The Valentine’s Day Ball promises a refined evening of black-tie elegance in the Museum’s spectacular Grand Hall. Guests will enjoy five courses of romantic, floral-inspired cuisine from the Museum’s Executive Chef, Georges Laurier. Between courses, guests will have the opportunity to dance and enjoy an eclectic program of live music, including ballroom, jazz, classical and contemporary pieces performed by accomplished professional musicians.

“Our children and young people are the ones who have the most to learn and to gain from Canada’s rich history,” said Dr. Victor Rabinovitch, President and CEO of the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation. “The funds raised by the Valentine’s Day Ball will ensure that our heritage can be taught to future generations through the development of even stronger education programs at the Museum of Civilization and the War Museum.”

The support of partners, including the SAQ (La Société des alcools du Québec), the Ottawa Citizen, Le Droit, and Rock Détente will help make this benefit a success and help make an investment in future generations.

Tickets for the Valentine’s Day Ball are $250 (plus applicable taxes), with corporate tables of eight available for $1800 (plus applicable taxes). To reserve, call 819 776-7183. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
