Coffee and Conversation: Making an exhibition about a Genius

Join Sam Cronk, Canadian Music curator and Anne Newlands, Senior Interpretive Planner for a special visit of the Museum’s newest exhibition Glenn Gould: The Sounds of Genius. The exhibition traces Gould’s development from child prodigy to international concert star to recording and media artist pioneer. It also recalls Gould’s surprising departure from the concert scene, and examines the personal charisma and idiosyncrasies that helped make him a cultural icon.

Giving Thanks to Mother Earth

Explore aboriginal seasonal traditions that celebrate harvest time and Mother Earth’s gifts. Taste traditional corn cakes. Interpreters from the La Maison des cultures amérindiennes will be available to answer questions about these festivities. Don’t miss the 2 p.m. presentation of the “Keepers of the Eastern Door: Mohawk Singers and Dancers”.

Kids Celebrate!
Opens October 6, 2007

Kids Celebrate! is an activity-packed exhibition about celebrations and how kids — and their families — celebrate special events throughout the year.

To celebrate this new temporary exhibition three days of events await you. Come and meet special guests and their families in the Mexican, Japanese and Indian homes. A special party will be held in the Studio where you can create a unique party hat, a parade will take place each day at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., family dance sessions will keep you on your toes on Sunday and Monday at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.. There will be storytelling every hour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in French and from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in English. Much more awaits you and your family in the exhilarating new exhibition.
