Two Plates

These plates were made by William Eby and bear his cherry motif. Plates such as these examples were commonly used during the second half of the 1800s, but relatively few have survived. Earthenware products were generally made from local clays and fired or heated at lower temperatures than stoneware or porcelain. This resulted in products that were less durable and more prone to damage.
