The Tugboat W T Robb
This drawing shows the tugboat W T Robb plying its way through choppy waters. In June 1866, the W T Robb saw active duty, even sustaining enemy fire, as part of the Canadian forces defending our shores in the Fenian Raids. Subsequently in 1901, it was burned in a fire. The artist worked as a fireman on a Toronto tugboat, and he may have had a special place in his heart for these vessels. The work is signed "Gibbons & Hunt Parts. Toronto, Ont." Neither the identity of Hunt nor the role he played is known.
