The Steamship Toronto

Charles Gibbons was a Toronto artist who produced detailed drawings of the many vessels that visited the local waterfront. He generally worked with coloured and graphite pencils, taking great care to ensure that his representations were accurate. The Toronto was owned by Richelieu & Ontario Navigation Company and provided service, until 1939, between Toronto and Rochester, New York. Gibbons often framed his subject with ships on either side.
