Sheraton Sofa
The design of this sofa, with its turned front legs, open arms and inlaid panels, was undoubtedly inspired by the more sophisticated examples of Thomas Sheraton’s in England or the Federal period sofas from the Eastern Seaboard of the United States. This sofa was found near the Mahone Bay area of Nova Scotia, where at least one other similar example has been found. Most Canadian sofas of this design have been discovered in Nova Scotia or Eastern Ontario.
