Sawbuck Table
The form of this table is typical of those found in Germanic communities in Ontario, Nova Scotia, the United States and Central Europe. It is called a “sawbuck” because the base resembles a sawhorse. The top rests on two dovetailed cleats, which in turn are secured to the base with four wooden pins. This table features a simple design and balanced proportions, and its rounded corners on the top make it different from tables having the more typical rectangular form.
