Multiple Shaft Coverlet
Variations of the star and diamond pattern, as is found on this coverlet, were among the most popular patterns woven on multiple shaft looms. This example is attributed to the Waterloo County region, where other very similar coverlets have been found. The shade of green in this coverlet reflects the increased availability of colours and commercial dyes as the 1800s progressed, also observed in overshot coverlet CMH 2007.22.145.
