Lift Top Desk
The finely proportioned legs on this desk were influenced by European examples dating from the mid-1700s forward. Several similar tables have been found in Southwestern Ontario, from small side tables to large harvest tables, with tapered legs that have a gentle flare at the bottom. They have been associated with settlers from Alsace (on the border of France and Germany), and possibly from other regions of Central Europe, who found their way to Southwestern Ontario.
