Country Regency Chair
Perhaps the most interesting feature of this chair, one from a set of six, is the pine plank seat. It sits inside the frame and is slightly raised, with a moulded edge and black painted surface, all of which are intended to create the illusion of upholstered leather. The design of this chair — with its tapered legs, beaded back supports and rear uprights — is patterned after Scottish chairs of the Regency period. It was found in eastern New Brunswick, and the original varnish finish remains intact.
