Banquet Table

Most banquet tables are made in three sections, with two D-shaped ends and a centre section with swing legs and two drop leaves. This example was made with two D-shaped ends, each with a drop leaf supported by two swing legs. The absence of a centre section has contributed to an overall size that is smaller than the norm. This banquet table is well proportioned with attractive reeded panels in the apron above the finely turned legs. Although found in Cape Breton, it may have been made in Halifax as it shares the same form of inlay sometimes seen on Halifax pieces.
