The Ferry Jasmine

The Jasmine, owned by the Toronto Ferry Company, provided service in and around Toronto between 1892 and 1929, when it was burned as a spectacle for the Civic holiday celebration. The Toronto Ferry Company was absorbed in 1926 by the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). The Jasmine was built at the foot of Berkeley Street in Toronto, by George Dickson, and incorporated the hull of a smaller vessel damaged by fire. The style of this drawing, with flags flying and the vessel slicing through the waves, is typical of the artist, Charles Gibbons.
