Carved Figure of Napoleon I
This well carved figure of Napoleon I, with its original painted finish, is attributed by oral tradition to Michael Grace, who was a shipwright in Sackville, New Brunswick. For many years, it stood in Tingley House, a stagecoach stop north of Halifax. Napoleon Bonaparte (1769–1821) was a popular figure during the early 1800s and the subject of many period carvings.
