Candle Stand

Candle stands with this general form were made in many areas of Eastern Canada and the United States. However, the design of the turned column on this stand leaves little doubt that it is a product of the Niagara Pennsylvania German community. The smallish top, combined with the simply turned column and broad splay of the feet, contributes to an attractive yet somewhat folksy piece. An old, dry overpaint has been carefully removed to reveal the original brown grain finish. This candle stand came from the Kline Moyer family of Vineland, Ontario.
