Sheraton Style Chest of Drawers

A primary feature of this chest of drawers is the well-developed base, patterned after the designs of Thomas Sheraton. The application of the gallery to the back and sides mirrors the changing fashions that were beginning to be introduced during the 1830s, and provides confirmation that this piece was probably made during the 1830 to 1850 period. Found in Brockville, Ontario, this chest could have been made in either Eastern Ontario or Montréal.
