Storage Chest

This storage chest, with its scalloped base and beautifully decorated traditional floral panels, was a product of Wilno, Ontario, during the late 1800s. Canadian furniture making has roots in many countries, and this chest illustrates the diversity and quality to be found in many historical furnishings. Wilno was settled by Polish immigrants who, after their arrival, continued to make and decorate their furnishings by hand in the tradition of their ancestors.
