Single Drawer Lamp Table

Four finely turned legs and an extended overhang to the top give this table visible appeal and character. The use of a variety of grain-painted faux-bois finishes creates contrasting effects among the top, apron, drawer and legs in a unique display of patterns and colours. This table was acquired during the mid-1970s from a branch of the Barkey family in Ringwood, Ontario, and is signed "Geo Barkey Ringwood-Durham County." The Barkeys were furniture makers in the area east of Markham, Ontario, and similar painted finishes have been found on other pieces, making possible additional study of their work.
