Sheraton Armchair
The design of this chair displays a combination of the Sheraton and Hepplewhite characteristics that frequently influenced Canadian cabinetmakers. The reeded arms and back, tapered legs, acanthus carving and reeded rectangular panel on the crest reflect decorative elements published in guidebooks during the early 1800s. This chair was passed down in a family in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
