Autumn Peltier – Indigenous Water Protector
Special Display
The Canadian Museum of History is proud to highlight the exceptional achievements of Autumn Peltier, from Wiikwemikoong Unceded Territory on Manitoulin Island, through a special display of material connected to her international advocacy for clean water rights. This material — which will be featured in a temporary display before a longer-term installation in the Canadian History Hall — includes the dress she wore for her address to the United Nations General Assembly in March of 2018 (at the age of 13).
Peltier has been honoured with numerous Canadian and international awards for her activism. In November, she was one of three finalists for the International Children’s Peace Prize — the first time a Canadian has made this final stage.
