Get ready for Day of the Dead with colourful paper banners!
In Mexico, Day of the Dead celebrations include candy skulls, sky-high puppet parades, and papel picado — the colourful cut-paper banners fluttering across every street. Learn more about this lively and heartfelt craft in the Canadian Children’s Museum Studio. Guided by a workshop leader, cut out your own design or use one of our templates to make a tissue-paper picado scene or pattern. String several together to create a lightweight banner to take home.
Drop by to find out more about delightful and intricate papel picado – just in time for Día de los Muertos at the beginning of November!
Ongoing for the month of October; free with Museum admission.
