Canada Breaks New Ground

Twelve Pence treasure

The 1851 Twelve Pence, bearing a portrait of Queen Victoria by Alfred Chalon, is undeniably a philatelic rarity. It was printed in much smaller quantities than the Three Pence and Six Pence of the same issue. Only about 130 remain today. Twelve Pence stamps on covers are even more exceptional.
