Life on the Farm
Chris's stay at the Rutherford farm was his most intense period of correspondence. He wrote over 120 letters-one every two or three days-and received nearly that many during the eleven months he lived there. His letter writing was aided by Mackenzie, who bought aerogrammes for him, delivered his letters to the post office, and picked up his mail every day on his way home from his clerk's job in Brighton.

This letter is #37
that I have written since I left home so
I have surely kept busy with that to pass the time. |
