Koo Mei, also known as Carrie Koo, is a native of Suzhou, Jiangsu Province.
She excels in landscape painting and has proceeded towards experiments with
landscape themes in a more modern spirit. Her work generally features
snow-clad mountain and rock formations steeped in mist and clouds,
displaying subtle gradation of ink tones and color washes and a rich fabric
of textures created with the brush or by other means. In this way she
unfolds a personal vision of particularly feminine softness and spiritual
charm, with suggestion of infinite vastness of space and forms halfway
between reality and abstraction. She has held painting exhibitions in
Taiwan, United States and Canada. Her works have won the Hong Kong Urban
Council Fine Art Award and have been collected by the Hong Kong Museum of
Art, Utah State University and other institutions.
