Objects Made of Animal Bone

Bone and antler artifacts of the Archaic Period have been found at only a very few sites in the Ottawa Valley because soil chemistry destroys objects made of organic raw materials. Among the items uncovered are harpoon heads, delicate eyed needles, pendants and awls. These artifacts provide a rare glimpse of the variety and richness of bone and antler tools from the Archaic Period.
