Description
Owl’s Bouquet is featured on the ten dollar bill printed by the Bank of Canada in 2017 for celebrating the 150th anniversary of Confederation. This is the first time that work by an Inuit artist has appeared on a bank note and only the second time that original visual art has been included in a composition.
Kenojuak Ashevak voit le jour dans le camp d’Ikirisaa, dans le sud de l’île de Baffin, et grandit en voyageant d’un camp de chasse à l’autre, entre son île natale et le Nord québécois (région du Nunavik). En 2001, Ashevak devient la première femme inuite à être intronisée dans l’Allée des célébrités canadiennes (Canada’s Walk of Fame) aux côtés d’autres célèbres artistes canadiens accomplis. En 2008, Kenojuak Ashevak est lauréate du Prix du Gouverneur général en arts visuels et en arts médiatiques. L’artiste Kenojuak Ashevak a connu une longue et brillante carrière, et ses œuvres figurent dans de nombreuses collections publiques et privées partout dans le monde.
