Maxine Noel is from Manitoba and her parents are Santee Oglala Sioux. She works with different media such as painting, drawing, serigraphy, etching and stone lithography. Maxine Noel signs her artwork with her Sioux name IOYAN MANI, which translates as “Walk Beyond”.
