Star Blanket II

Canadian Museum of History, V-A-887, IMG2009-0063-0005-Dm

Wally Dion, a Saulteaux (Plains Ojibwa) artist from Saskatchewan, uses his art to dispel stereotypes and to tell the history of First Peoples in his home province. In addition to reflecting upon the long hours Aboriginal women spend working and sewing at home, the work addresses how technology has changed our lives. Star Blanket II is made of recycled computer mother boards, copper wire and copper piping.
