Decoy

Canadian Museum of History, 2015.2.13, IMG2015-0324-0009-Dm

This wooden decoy of a female black duck is one of the only known decoys made to attract passing drakes by portraying a hen in the breeding position. It was among the remarkable collection of 150 duck and goose decoys donated by Dr. Jim Stewart of Etobicoke, Ontario. Some pieces of the collection are currently on display in the Museum.
