Acadian hooked rug
Acadians celebrate National Acadian Day on August 15 of each year. Catherine Poirier of Cheticamp, Nova Scotia, made this hooked rug with Acadian flags on it. Cheticamp hooked rugs are celebrated as symbols of regional Acadian identity. Poirier’s rugs are highly reflective of life in Cheticamp and often depict farming and fishing landscapes in vivid colours.
