Forty years ago, Montréal became the first Canadian city to host the Summer Olympic Games. The torch relay leading to the official opening ceremonies on July 17, 1976 is an important part of the history of the Games in Canada. The organizers produced 1,250 Olympic torches like this, making it one of the smallest production runs since the torch relay was introduced in 1936.
