Card Table
The central feature on the column, a pineapple, has been a traditional motif — representing warmth and hospitality — for over 200 years. The fold over top opens and swivels to rest on the case, which contains a storage area within. This card table with pedestal base has many features and motifs used frequently by the maker, Thomas Nisbet. It is in its original condition, including the ebonized turnings on the column. Ebonizing, which generally dates from the first half of the 1800s, has accent areas of furniture painted black to simulate ebony.
